Pickering was an antiquarian bookseller and publisher of taste, known for his reprints of classical authors in a small format (“Diamond Classics) and an edition of the English poets in 53 volumes; Dibdin was an English bibliophile and antiquary whose Bibliomania (1809) spurred interest in rare books and early editions.

Thirty-seven ALS concerning personal and literary matters, Dibdin’s financial problems, and mutual acquaintances including John Major, who published Dibdin’s translation of Thomas a KempisImitation of Christ with Pickering in 1828.
