Note
William Morris was an artist, designer, poet and socialist.
In the last decade of his life he turned to fine printing and operated the
Kelmscott Press at his home in Hammersmith,
In this autograph letter Morris mentions an unidentified manuscript in an “old Venetian binding” that he wishes the addressee to repair for him. He also discusses the binding and trimming of the sheets of his The Story of the Glittering Plain that he had printed at the Kelmscott Press as well as the green silk headbands for the vellum copies.
