Historical/Biographical Note: 
The Society was founded in 1895 by Grolier Club members who were particularly interested in prints and in the history of New York City. They published a number of prints illustrating New York City over the centuries, many of them specially commissioned.

Scope and Contents: 
In addition to a full set of the prints published by the Society, the collection includes: minutes and accounts for the period 1895-1930; Society circulars with order forms for prints issued by the Society as well as orders and related correspondence; and manuscript and printed copies of a catalog describing prints published by the Society, 1895-1925. Also galley and page proofs of the Society’s history with a printed copy dated 1930. Of note is correspondence concerning the Hudson-Fulton Celebration (1909), in which the Society took part.
