Frederick Startridge Ellis was bookseller and author who was for many years the official buyer for the British Museum. He compiled important catalogues of collectors such as Henry Huth, Charles J. J. Heywood, and others. As a publisher on a limited scale, his most important books were works by William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
