This collection consists of the first catalogues, lists, and/or auction lists issued by a number of rare book dealers in the late 20th and early 21st century. This collection was compiled and donated to The Grolier Club primarily by Robert and Donna Jackson.

Provenance:
The bulk of this collection was donated in July of 2009 by Robert H. and Donna J. Jackson, with additions in July of 2010. Additionally, Ian J. Kahn donated a small number of catalogues in September of 2009. The Grolier Club itself supplied one catalogue as well. The Kahn and Grolier Club additions are noted as such in the container list. One additional catalogue was added to the collection by Robert Jackson in May 2013.

Biographical/Historical Note:
Robert and Donna Jackson are writers, lecturers, and book collectors. Robert Jackson, b. 1936, is an attorney, and serves in leadership positions for a variety of libraries, museums, and other cultural organizations. He is an active member of The Grolier Club, among other bookish associations. The Jacksons live in Ohio.
Scope and Content Note:
This collection consists of the first printed catalog, list, and/or brochure published by a selection of rare book dealers over the course of about 50 years from 1964-2010, with the bulk of the material dating from 1976-2005. The majority of the rare book dealers represented are located in the United States, with a small number from Canada and the UK. The collection was compiled, collected, and arranged primarily by Robert and Donna Jackson with a small number of additions from Ian J. Kahn and The Grolier Club. These printed booklets, pamphlets, and sheets document the history of the rare book trade in the late 20th and early 21st century in the regions they represent.
Arrangement Note:
The donors arranged this collection alphabetically by the name of the bookseller or store to which the catalogue corresponds. The archivist made every attempt to remain true to this order. A comprehensive hardcopy list detailing the enumeration, month of publication, and location of the bookseller is available in the archival collection file at The Grolier Club.
