Biographical Note
George Livingston Nichols, a book collector resident in Katonah New York with a law office on Wall Street, was a member of the Grolier Club from 1893 until his death in 1932. His main collecting interests were in the fields of English and American literature. After the Nichols' death, his family presented the Club with 500 volumes from his library, most of them to be offered for sale to members for the benefit of the Club. This sale took place in late 1938. Monies realized were put toward the support of the Library.

Scope and Contents
Typescript checklist of books presented to the Grolier Club from the library of the late George Livingston Nicholas, complied by Club Librarian Ruth S. Granniss. The collection also contains a folder of correspondence between the Librarian and persons concerned with the presentation and sale, including some correspondence with Livingston’s daughters in 1941 regarding donations of family books to a sale for the benefit of the British War Relief Fund.
