Biographical/Historical Note:
The objective of the Committee on Special Functions is to arrange for occasional small dinners with appropriate speakers and other special events. The Committee’s activities date back to 1935, although it did not issue separate annual reports until the early 1950s; these reports are printed in the Yearbook. For some years small exhibitions were designed specifically for these dinner meetings. Information appears in these records about the Bowsers, an informal group of members which developed within the Club that met for convivial evenings between 1938 and 1949, with sporadic activity thereafter. The Bowsers were eventually absorbed into the Special Functions Committee.
Scope and Content Note:
Correspondence, announcements, and schedules of events. There are also bills, reservation lists, and related materials for dinner meetings sponsored by the Committee as well as some later materials relating to committee sponsored outings to Connecticut and Princeton.
