Biographical/Historical Note:
Irene Tichenor holds an MS in Library Science and a PhD in American History from Columbia University.  She is a Past President of the American Printing History Association, former Vice President of the Bibliographical Society of America, and an active member of the Grolier Club since 1984.  She is the preeminent collector of printing history related to Theodore Low De Vinne and is the author of the definitive biography of De Vinne, No Art Without Craft: The Life of Theodore Low De Vinne, printer published by David Godine in 2005.  Theodore Low De Vinne (1828-1914) was a prominent and influential printer, typographer, historian and writer active in New York City at the turn of the century.  He was a founder of the Grolier Club, and produced much of the Club’s early printing.  He died in 1914 at the age of 82.
