The Charles Dexter Allen Diaries are a collection of sixteen handwritten diaries written by Charles Dexter Allen from 1905-1926 showing his involvement with various New York City institutions including the Stowaways Club and the Grolier Club.

Biographical/Historical Note
Charles Dexter Allen was a member of the Grolier Club from 1894-1907 and an active member of the Stowaways Club. Allen was born in Connecticut in 1865 and lived in Connecticut until his death in 1926. He was a writer and artist, and most interested in artist’s prints, books and drawings.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of sixteen handwritten diaries, notes on most pages and some longer entries. Diaries also contain ephemera including invitations, menus, note cards, event schedules and newspaper clippings. All of the diaries contain information related to the workings of the Stowaways Club and notes about club activities and members.
Arrangement Note
The diaries were wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and are boxed in a single box in date order.
